Foreign trade and trade fairs

It is important to maintain and build on the good reputation which Rhineland-Palatinate has established worldwide in export trade because around half of all jobs in commerce and industry in Rhineland-Palatinate depend on foreign trade.

In a bid to support the companies in Rhineland-Palatinate, the Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Verkehr, Landwirtschaft und Weinbau Rheinland-Pfalz has responded to the demanding challenges of the current economic climate by focusing strategically on future markets in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, North America and South America and by extending its aid incentives to new sectors of the economy, such as environmental technologies, renewables, energy efficiency and the health care industry, and also by reviving its trade fair support scheme.

Besides the selection of key markets and sectors made by the Ministry of Economic Affairs with the industrial regulatory bodies of Rhineland-Palatine, priority is given to professional preparation and follow-through with the initiatives offered. A worldwide network of chambers of commerce abroad can be used to identify suitable business partners in the target locations for each individual company and to provide opportunities for initial contact with a view to assessing the potential market.
